As regular Libertas readers know, LFM was invited on-set and did the very first interview with director Paul Johansson about the film (see here and here). Audiences will now soon get to render their own verdict.

The best timing possible for the release of Ayn Rand’s awesome 1957 ode to capitalism at a time when the USA is literally living Atlas Shrugged complete with a Second Great Depression, a socialist federal government under Obama seemingly bent on the destruction of the American liberty, and millions of formerly hard working Americans “on strike” and doing just enough to survive.
Indeed, Atlas Shrugged has arrived!
Ayn Rand was not only a great writer and philosopher, but a great prophet as well.

Question: I understand the film was made for $5mill, has anyone stepped forward after seeing the rushes to underwrite the advertising with additional bucks?
I don’t know what the advertising plans are – but realistically, they’re going to have to do this through word of mouth.
I think it looks great. The haters are out en masse, though. (Check out the youtube comments.) I’ll do my part to get word out about it. I think Glenn Beck gave it some love on his show. That oughtta help.
They’re not going to have a big marketing budget, so spreading the word will definitely help …
I’ve followed this since it was announced, but I still can’t believe it’s happening. It looks great!
I have the same car Dagny drives in the trailer. And how fitting is it that it’s a Toyota? The U.S. government buys its competitors, and then targets the world’s largest car company — then it was announced that Toyota basically wasn’t even at fault … big surprise.
I simply can not wait to see this film — it’s easily my most anticipated this year.
I noticed that! A Toyota – pretty funny. Something made me think that Dagny would drive a Jaguar. Oh well.
I respect the hell out of the look they got for the film for the budget. You can tell that they knew they had to make the film BIG.
On the other hand, if I may be critical, while the acting looks just fine, it is a story that cries out for STARS! Just the way they are talking and what they are talking about feels like you want an Angelina Jolie in that role, as I believe she was once attached.
Nevertheless, I will see and root for this.

Star power is always good but I think in this case it was better to get actors who actually believe the story (not that there aren’t actors like that but, unfortunately, I can’t think of many who would be right for the parts, maybe just Jon Voight.) Hopefully this will usher in a new age in Hollywood and along with it a new set of truly free thinking stars!
I don’t actually know what the attitude of the actors happens to be about the material. My sense is that it’s probably just a job for them.
